Issued US Army M1951 Field Jacket

Photos are only examples. Your jacket may not have patches or insignia. Returns due to lack of patches or insignia will not be accepted. Expect wear and holes that do not go all the way through, as well as some missing buttons.

The M-51 Field Jacket is an iconic piece of American military and casual wear. Adopted in 1951 as an improvement upon the WWII-era M-43 field jacket, the M-51 was issued during the Korean War, throughout the 1950s and during the early parts of the Vietnam War. Constructed of a heavy nine ounce cotton sateen fabric, these jackets are windproof and water-repellant.

One of the easiest ways to tell an M-51 from an M-65 is the presence of a hood. The older M-51s don't have one! Another telltale sign is the style of buttons, though it does overlap between M-51s and early production M-65s.

When you're purchasing an M-51 Field Jacket, you're securing a piece of early Cold War US military history. We jumped at the chance to grab even a small lot of these awesome jackets. The majority of these M-51s are older than most Baby Boomers, so expect some slight wear.

The Short & Sweet:

  • Genuine vintage US Army surplus, will show signs of wear: shallow holes/missing buttons
  • OG-107 colorway
  • Drawstring waist
  • Dated from the 1950s and 1960s
  • Four front snap pockets
  • Zip-up and snap-cap front
  • Button-adjustable cuffs
  • Compatible with button-in liner, but not included
