DOSAAF (Volunteer Society for the Assistance to the Army, Aviation, and Navy) was a paramilitary sports organization typical of what you could expect to see in any government that bordered more authoritarian. It was a youth club that aimed to  provide a "patriotic upbringing of the population and preparation of it to the defense of the Motherland."
