Splinter Pants??? Finally! Splinter camouflage was initially developed by the German military in the late 1920s. Throughout the 1930s and 1940s, it was issued to many Wehrmacht units. Postwar the West German government issued a variant of the pattern to their military and border police. Eventually, due to its ties to a very dark part of world history, it was phased out and replaced by olive drab uniforms.
