Grade 2 US Navy AL-1 Flight Jacket

This is a Grade 2 listing, all products listed here will have defects including but not limited to missing buttons and features, tears or holes. We do not accept returns on Grade 2 items for condition.

Adopted in 1947, the AL-1 flight jacket was designed to keep aviators warm in the colder climates that were becoming increasingly critical during the Cold War era. It was only made for five years before the G-1 of Top Gun fame became the standard issue cold weather flight jacket.

Used by the Navy and Marine Corps, the jacket offers numerous cool features along with an alpaca wool liner. The handwarmer pockets are unique in that they have rib knit at their entry points. When using these pockets, a comfortable barrier is made with the rib knit found on each sleeve.

Main zipper is broken and will need to be resewn. Needs replacement buttons and some light hole patching. Otherwise in good shape for its age and rarity.

Features:

  • Four pockets, two on the front, and two on the interior
  • Two hand warmer pockets
  • Alpaca wool liner
  • Rib knit on handwarmer pockets and sleeves
